Reading a Broker Licence Footer Without Getting Lost

Jun 26, 2026 · 7 min read

Footers list entities and licences. Learn what to verify — and what a licence does not guarantee.

Entity vs. brand

Global brands often operate through multiple legal entities. The licence that applies is the one for the entity on your account agreement, not the logo on the homepage.

What to verify

Look up the licence number on the regulator’s public register when available. Confirm status is active and that the trading name matches. Screenshots of logos are not verification.

What a licence is not

Regulation does not mean you will profit, that withdrawals are instant, or that every product is allowed in your country. It is one trust input among several.

Geo restrictions

Some entities refuse clients from certain countries. Accessibility of a website is not permission to trade. Check onboarding rules for your residency.
